There is a woman who exceeds confidence, loyalty, courage, patience, dedication, intelligence, and is caring. This woman is an emergency nurse in a very busy hospital in New York City. This woman is my grandmother. This woman is my role model and one of the reasons why I have chosen to attend Long Island University to help me in the process of becoming a Nurse. The many stories that my grandmother shared with me as her experience as a nurse motivated me to pursue nursing. I hope to make a greater impact on my patients as my grandmother has.
I always wanted to become a nurse growing up, I sincerely felt the need to take care of those who are in great health conditions but are in need of extra care. I have always wanted to help change the world and as a nurse I can fulfill my dream. As a child, I believed that if everyone did their own little part in taking that extra step to help others, the world would be a much better place. This is where my motivation to pursue nursing comes from the drive to go an extra mile to make a difference in the world and also to make a difference in people lives. I want to become a nurse due to the reason that it is a dignified profession in which I will love to be a part of.

The field of nursing has many attractive qualities such as being an important part of a health care team, and also becoming a patient advocate. As a medical assistant in 2010, I was able to advocate for patients on the micro level by assisting with insurance forms, prescriptions instructions and English translations. Having great communication and listening skills I will enjoy the nature of the work, and I will be able to help the patients to the best of my ability. Where I lack in familiarity, I will make up to learn quickly through hands on experience and through classroom. Being able to work well independently, and at the same time...
